What experience level is needed for this trip? Are there any rapids?
This trip is perfect for all experience levels. There are no rapids and guests receive a safety orientation and personal flotation devices (life jackets). Guests should request children’s life jackets for children under 90 lbs. when making reservations.
Do I need to make a reservation? If I just show up will I be able to rent a canoe or kayak?
Riverwood Canoe strongly suggests that guests make reservations. Our mission is to provide a fun, worry free experience on the river and we plan our day around our guests so having a reservation helps us provide you with exceptional service.
What is your cancellation policy? What happens if it's stormy on the day of our trip?
Our guests are welcome to cancel their reservation for any reason and at any time. 100% Refund if you have pre-paid, no questions asked. Simply give us a call and let us know you will not be making it. We are also happy to reschedule your trip for another day or time. In the case of inclement weather we are also very flexible and work together with you to make a calculated decision on if it is wise to go or delay the trip.
When do we pay for the rental? Is cash okay? Do you accept credit cards?
There are 2 ways to pay: Online with a credit card when making a reservation or with cash or credit card when you arrive at Riverwood before your trip. When reserving over the phone we do not require a payment.
Can I bring my dog? Can I bring a cooler or other gear?
Dogs are allowed as long as they do not pose any sort of threat to humans. Please mention your intention to bring your pet when making reservations. The amount of space available for coolers and other gear is limited, however we do our best to make room for it. GLASS IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE RIVER.
How many people fit in a Canoe?
There is not one simple answer to this question. We like to say 2-3 adults. All of our canoes have 2 seats, often a third person will ride in the middle on the bottom of the boat. With small children it is possible to up to 5 in a canoe (2 adults and 3 small children). Keep in mind that there are 2 seats, one in front and one in back, and all other paddlers will be riding on the floor in the middle.
Where is Riverwood Canoe? Where do we park? Can we just park at a river landing and you bring us kayaks or SUPs?
Riverwood Canoe is located in Downtown Osceola, WI. Our address is 305 River Street. All paddlers embarking on an adventure with Riverwood Canoe will park and check-in at Riverwood Canoe. We are a full service operation and bring guests to and from the river. We are dedicated to making sure that no one is stuck waiting for us at a landing. Most guests will find us waiting for them when they arrive at their ending point. Please do not park at a river landing, you will not be able to rent any equipment from us if you do so. We would love to have you come park at our location in town and you will be surprised at how convenient it is!
How long will this trip take? Are there places to stop along the way?
Guests usually arrive at their destination, The Osceola Landing, 2-3 hours after they begin paddling. There are plenty of rock islands, sand bars and campsites where guests can stop along the way. Of course, stopping can increase the amount of time the trip takes.
Do people really Stand Up Paddle Board for 7 miles? Do you recommend trying SUP's if we have no experience?
Experienced SUP paddlers typically have no problem using our SUP’s for 7 miles. Not everyone is ready for this type of SUP experience, if you have never tried it we recommend sticking with Kayaks or Canoes for this type of river adventure. If you have questions about SUP’s please contact us, we are glad to help make the nest decision with you.
